Graft surgery to cover recessions

Graft surgery to cover recessions

Periodontal plastic surgery and mucogingival surgery are the surgical techniques that help to correct the harmony of the smile and to reconstruct the defects caused by periodontal disease, malposition of the teeth, traumatisms or others.

The specialist analyses the characteristics of the patient’s smile, and if is not harmonic or the teeth are short or irregular, the shape of the gum may be corrected by excess or defect. After aligning your teeth with orthodontics, it is also possible to do a small retouching to balance the gingival margins. It is also possible to remove tattoos or melanic tints.

We perform gingival grafts to increase the gums and to cover the exposed roots and dental recessions (self-transplant of gum, mucograft®, alloderm® ...). Sometimes, a tooth or an implant suffers from dental recession and absence of adherent gum, which worsens the prognosis and it may make it necessary to correct the defect.

Whenever the technique allows it, micro-surgery and / or minimally invasive surgery is carried out in order to maximize aesthetics and reduce the postoperative inconveniences. In addition, any of these techniques can be done under sedation if the patients request it.
