 Implantology

Dental implants allow the replacement of absent teeth for an implant-retained prosthesis (which can be fixed or semi-mobile) in order to recover good health, function and dental aesthetics.

Since 1994, Dra. Jorgina Estany and her team have placed thousands of implants and have given a good function, chewing and aesthetics to hundreds of patients.

IMPLANT PLACEMENT
The first step of the treatment is to place a titanium screw (the implant) screwed to the maxillar bonr. The screw is fixed gradually to the bone just like the natural roots. After a while, this metallic root provides stable fixed support and, on its visible upper part on the gum, an artificial tooth is placed. This tooth is made so that it matches the rest of the natural teeth in shape, color and function.

During the waiting time to achieve a good bone integration of the implant, the patient can carry a provisional prosthesis. After the integration phase, in which the implants are integrated into the bone, the prosthesis specialist will use personalized abutments to fit the prosthesis in a fixed and permanent manner.

Among the advantages offered by this method, we highlight the improvement of the quality of life, the sensation of having your own teeth, the recovery of chewing ability and, above all, better social relations.

In many cases, we can now make an immediate charge with teeth on the day of the surgery.

TREATMENT OPTIONS

After a personalized study, the type of implant and the most appropriate treatment option are chosen for each case. The most common are:

  • Replace a single tooth: In this case, an implant is placed and, at a later stage, a dental crown is fitted. The dental implant replaces both the lost natural tooth and its root while the crown is equal to the neighboring teeth.
  • Replace more than one tooth: In this case, the number of implants placed is equal to or less than the number of lost teeth, and this depends on the place, the space or the load. After the bone integration, the necessary crowns are fitted.
  • Replace all teeth: When this situation occurs, the two most frequent possibilities are either placing two to four implants and a mobile prosthesis supported on them; or a larger number of implants in order to hold a totally fixed prosthesis.

A very hygienic design of the prosthesis and treatment is very important, it is necessary to plan regular follow-up visits in order to control and maintain healthy implants, teeth and gums.
